In college courses, we are continually engaged with other people’s ideas: we read them in texts, hear them in lecture, discuss them in class, and incorporate them into our own writing. As a result, it is very important that we give credit where it is due. Plagiarism is using others’ ideas and words without clearly acknowledging the source of that information. To avoid plagiarism, you must give credit whenever you use another person’s idea, opinion, or theory; any facts, statistics, graphs, drawings—any pieces of information—that are not common knowledge; quotations of another person’s actual spoken or written words; or paraphrase of another person’s spoken or written words.
Most of this plagiarism is take place with student cause most of the time we don’t want to do the work or look the work up at. We never want to take the time out to find the research. I think if someone use my work and they didn’t give me credit for it, I would be really upset and try to get them in trouble of about it, but the hard thing is finding out. I never have been in a plagiarism situation at all beside one time in high school. I was in English class and I was trying to help a find out with her paper. She wanted to look at my paper to see how I got it started and how the paper supposes to look when we got done with it. Instead of her getting some generally idea from my paper, she went and copy almost all my work. After we had to turn the paper in we both got a zero because the teach thought we was copying off each other. I stayed after class and talk to my teacher and let her know I was just helping her with the assignment, I didn’t know she was going to try and copy it. So the teacher believes me and gave me a better grade for coming to her and telling the truth. Anytime you write have a paper and its dealing with someone else quote we have to give credit.
The sited like you tube and wikipedia are copy and I don’t think it legally owned. You can go on these and get anything off those sites.
Hi Lashika, you are right about people not wanting to do the work. Tell me, if your going to college to better yourself, then why would you not expect to do some work. Do a little research and put in the time and effort? That's what we are here for right? So for the people that don't want to earn their degree, go somewhere else. Don't try and cheat your way through school and don't steal someone else's ideas while doing it.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about that. That's what most people do to is cheap there way though school.
